A French Country Weekend

A mango was not on my current "to eat" list. It would have certainly made it there in the weeks to come however.

Today we had lunch chez des amis and the dessert was cubes of cantaloupe and mango. Except for the crispy potatoes with the roast beef, everything was a perfect fit for a healthful, relatively low-cal regime. A simple salad was the entrée.

Because this was the first mango of the year 2012, I made my wish upon a mango. As you know, same wish, new fruit. I'm thinking about purple grapes for next week. (This is a wish that takes time, but I assume the more I wish the better the chances. . .)

I made my new year's wish -- each time one eats a fruit for the first time in a new year -- on melons months ago.

Weather Report: Chilly, i.e. cardigan and scarf necessary, sunny, invigorating.

A demain mes tres, tres, tres, chers amis.

Dinner sounds delicious and I feel fresh fruit is a healthy dessert.
My daughter bought some cute brogues like those ones. I remember wearing saddle shoes with cuffed jeans when I was a teenager, I wonder if they'll ever come back.
Have a lovely weekend and may your wish come true!

We eat a lot of mango salsa at our house! It is so good on grilled chicken and salsa!

Mango is such an exotic (and delicious) taste! How lovely to add this fruit to your list - and hoping it will work some magic.

Cardigan and scarf? It sounds bracing! Perfect autumn weather.

The lunch sounds wonderful. I'm not a fan of mangoes, though they are available almost year-round here (imported from Mexico and Central America). Wish we had a little of that chill about now...

Mangoes picked fresh off the tree, smell different and much more delicious than those available in the markets. They're picked green for long distance transports. Each week I waited for the weekend, to check what fruit you're wishing on...:) Hope this week's wish will come true!

Mmm, mangoes! I have been lurking for a while, enjoying immensely all your posts.
I'd promised myself, when back from vacation and the rush of getting kids back to school was over, that I would delve deeper into the wonderful wardrobe posts from Janice. Got into your July 5th post and was thrilled to see a link at the bottom for "Business in London, In Grey & Blue" - my favorite color combo! But, oh no! I can't seem to access it from any angle - I even tried getting to it from the Vivienne Files blogsite. She had a post on July 18th for gray & light blue which linked to your blog but then I just see "Sorry, the page ... does not exist." Did something go awry or is it just me? I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.

Meanwhile, merci for all the lovely pictures, thoughts and everything French.

Bonjour Tish,
Have you ever tried "the sorbet à la mangue" de chez Berthillon? To die for...
By the way talking about mango, if you can find a mango - or tangerine - scarf, you'll be absolutely trendy!
Have a great Sunday :-)

Potatoes are also healthy.

Good morning Tish! I am envious of your simple, tasty healthy dessert. I have almost given up on mangoes for this year but am inspired to try again. Have a lovely week, thanks as always for your bautiful blog.
