A Romantic Weekend In Paris

A quirky blouse from Sonia Rykiel with the collar of the moment further establishing it's  fashion credentials.

Ed. Note: Another romantic weekend in Paris and another creative capsule wardrobe from the brilliant Janice of The Vivienne Files. She seems to have an infinite number of ideas and combinations. I'm constantly amazed, and, of course so very pleased to call her a friend.

Very pretty blouse and clever combinations. I am learning loads about building capsule wardrobes and being much more disciplined in my purchases. Thanks

With a quick train trip to the Art Institute of Chicago coming up, I appreciate the references to train travel. Won't have that adorable blouse, but I think I can piece together the rest. Dresses, that's what I need. Tish, will you be reviewing them for Fall and Winter or have I missed your post?

I know this is a very "man thing" to say but my favorite piece was the panties.

Janice has been featuring suits in her Vivienne postings of late. I had consigned all my suits following retirement, but am reconsidering. Lovely post.

My mother had a pregnant top in the 1950's that was exactly like that Sonia Rykiel blouse. Seriously.

Instead of pretending I know anything much about style (of course I do...a little, but not near enough to keep commenting). I'll come clean and say...will wear everything from all three collections.

I think I still have a couple of old maternity tops from the 70's in a trunk in the attic that are deadringers for that Rykiel blouse. But, well, what's more romantic than making babies?

Wonderful capsules by the brilliant Janice!!
I won't be wearing the "collar of the moment" anytime in the future. Peter Pan collars look ludicrous on me. They did look great on me when I was 5, however.

Is it just me or does the pink print blouse look like something Laura Petrie would have worn while pregnant with Richie.. Just sayin'

I've seen old pictures of my mom in a top like that too, in the 1950s when she was pregnant! So I think a lot of us are not crazy about that style, it seems. And my personal opinion, I hate Peter Pan collars and will be sitting out that particular trend.

I think Janice is an absolute genius when it comes to these capsules; I am HOOKED! She is endlessly inspiring...a well that never runs dry...and I just don't know how she does it! Something really valuable is how she's helping so many of us trim down our closets to classics and essentials, for a calmer life without so much clutter and stuff we never use or wear anymore. LOVE her blog - a big toast to La Vivienne!!
