Proving Gorgeous "Cannes" Be Ageless

Ines de la Fressange
Off to Paris so will leave you with some femmes of a certain age eye-candy walking the walk on the red carpet at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival.

Jane Fonda

Tilda Swinton

Salma Hayek
Some are on the lighter end of un certain age, others not so much, but I think they all look splendid.

Isabelle Huppert
Yesterday I was having a conversation with one of my closest friends -- she's American and has lived in France for nearly 40 years. I said to her, "I'm beginning to think the only way to be and/or stay beautiful is to be rich." She disagreed. "I think it's about proper eating habits and being happy," she declared. "Of course good bone structure helps," she added.

I like her recipe, plus my Eurcerin, etc. . .

Great selection - they all look fab. I don't have the bone structure of Isabelle Huppert or Tilda Swinton, so I need to get my hands on some Eucerin!

Love the wisdom and the photos - oh for good bone structure! F x

I think I agree with both of you. Those who are extremely wealthy certainly can have an advantage with access to trainers and facialists and the like. Those who don't need to have good genes and be disciplined--and I am not so disciplined, alas. Happily, Eucerin is there, at an accessible price for all of us to help smooth out the rough spots! ;)

My dearly beloved once said to me, 'homes don't improve with age, they only improve with money.....just like women' !!

These elegant women embody elegance, growing older gracefully and great style. Good genes certainly help but I also think you reap what you sow....invest a bit into how you look and it will carry you through.

Ines...always looks fabulous! I am trying every day to prove that joy, healthy habits, and feeling great about your look are the best fighters of ageing...since I am no where close to rich, we will see in the long run if it works. I certainly feel younger than I am!!

Wealth does help, alas. But your friend is right. To her excellent suggestions, I would add good posture!

Healthy living can be expensive, time to exercise instead of work, shop at organic groceries, cook for yourself from scratch in place of packaged food...

I agree, money does help - if for nothing more (as LPC pointed out) than allowing for the time to take care of yourself.
Wonderful choice of women, and Isabelle Huppert's outfit, only solidifies my decision to buy a really great black leather motorcycle jacket this year!

Awesome photo of Jane Fonda. I love her and her books. And of course she would add how important exercise is to aging.

Hayek, to me, has a je ne sais quoi beauty that is indeed timeless. And feisty! At least in the roles she plays and I love that.

Huppert?

So much talent. That in itself is timeless, and powerful.

Isabelle Huppert looks positively dangerous. And I mean that as a compliment.

I bought a Schott Perfecto motorcyle jacket for my 60th birthday and have been wearing it nonstop for two years now. Good decision!!

@Anonymous - it's my 60th birthday very soon - perfect time to buy one. Thank you!

I don't know... Jane Fonda is known to have several face lifts, so she has nothing to do with aging gracefully!

And the rave about Eucerin is funny to me, as we have this branch here since ages and it is not famous at all. Nothing special...

It can be very costly going to spas and aestheticians, and buying quality makeup and the latest creams and things to come out. But getting exercise and eating well does not cost so much.

While I admire Jane Fonda's emphasis on good nutrition and exercise, I feel her facelifts aren't a good example of aging gracefully. But if you have the money and that's the look you want, go for it!
