| A plethora of flora by Christopher Kane. |
Because I love you, I plan to drive to Paris right-this-minute and take pictures on the street. It's been a while as you know so it will be difficult to put myself out there. Here's hoping the Parisians are in a good mood -- they should be, the weather is exquisite.
Now on to the task at hand, this week's this and that:
Cutting Back the Flowers
 |
| For those who thought there was no such thing as too many flowers. Divide and conquer I would suggest. By Celine. |
In a recent interview for my book with a renowned French stylist, she remarked that the only way she would consider wearing the season's floral trend would be either in pants or "maybe a coat."
She is in our age group with a lovely figure of course, but said she couldn't imagine wearing a flowered jacket for example or a shirt -- "it's banal, predictable," she added, waving off the notion with a flick of her her perfectly manicured hand.
One thing for certain, no matter what one's age, who would really consider being a head-to-toe bouquet? I mean really.
Just Because. . .

| So pretty. . . by Agnès b. |
I think this dress is girly, feminine, ageless, so perfect in every way -- and yes, Mad Men-ish -- that I had to show it to you. Note the nude shoes, bare legs, all so understated-ly elegant. No embellishments necessary.
Rounding Out the Season
 |
| Topshop |
As I mentioned yesterday, round sunglasses are the spring/summer musts.
 |
| From Rims & Goggles |
Of course we're not limited to only the tinted circles, one could put his or her prescription into the frames, but round is difficult for many face shapes. In most cases it's probably best to invest solely in the
lunettes de soleil.
Subtle & Stylish
 |
| Why I didn't buy this bag after I photographed it, I will never know. I've also forgotten the price except to say it was very reasonable for beautifully woven leather. |
If you'll be in Paris this summer and you consider Galeries Lafayette an essential destination once in situ, may I suggest that you investigate the department store's eponymous label. The prices are right, the designs the latest and the greatest, and they're well made.
I defy anyone to doubt the tote above doesn't come out of a
haute house with a big name label.
Catching the Weaves (I know, pathetic right?)

| Prada and Massimo Dutti. |
Ballerines tressées look new and now and impeccably summer chic. Do you agree?

Yes... I agree... xv
The agnés b. dress is gorgeous. However, on a femme d'un certain age who does not have perfectly glowing skin, beautiful hair in a tonal colour and the prettiness necessary to carry off such a bland look - this would probably simply look drab and boring. Though the style of the dress, I agree, is universally flattering.
Sad, but true!
The bag and the ballerines -- so perfect. Must investigate the possiblity of getting at least the Massimo Dutti...and I can't wait to see what snaps you come back with from Paris. Be fearless!
I would love to be floral from top to toe but alas I would look such a frump!!!! The woven leather...yes please!!
Fab bag! I too am on the fence about florals. Though I'm currently pondering a bold floral pencil skirt...but generally when it comes to prints I'm a graphic or paisley gal.
I adore that tote and I must agree that the head-to-toe floral is probably not a look for most of us. That said, I do love all the floral pants and pencil skirts showing up in the stores and boutiques and a topper or coat in a bold colourful floral would be just smashing! Can't wait to see what you snap in Paris!!
Adore flats if you are not walking too far. I have a few print tops, however I am more of a solid/ color block /or stripe palette.
Great handbag! Love it!

Agree about the florals, it's very difficult to appear elegant in a big blossom. Love the bag & shoes X10,
The shimmering dress is gorgeousI It's not boring beige, truly elegant for any age.
But yes, I'd add some understated bijou for sure as I design jewelry and always wear something if not the scarf. In this case I'd probably go with tiny Elsa Peretti drop, my favorite exclusion.
Last August in Paris I've noticed a lot of little dresses with small floral print. I'd love to have one with Repetto flats.
Thank you very much for stopping by and becoming my follower.
Love both the agnes b. dress and the woven bag. The dress however I would not buy in beige. Black, chocolate, red, wine, navy, hunter--but not beige. For me. The woven bag is superb: I've always wanted one.
I adore that Celine suit. Not too over the top but so on-trend. And the Agnes B dress is perfect for Sunday Brunch, a dinner party or work! Lovely
I love that you always show so many lovely ballerines instead of high heels. When I am in the city shopping and running on and off subways in my "flats", I think about you!
Thanks for your wonderful blog. xox wendy
Oh I love the last dress! It's so beautiful! The Prada shoes are great too! I'll need to find something similar without the big price tag though:)

WONDERFUL Post.thanks for share..
Those florals are a little too much for moi.
I'll take understatedly elegant any day.
I really miss your street shots! I am so excited we may see some new ones...the Prada flats are so fun!
Hello! I read this post and Destination Paris post this morning on my Kindle Fire. I left comments on each but they do not appear. I seem to have trouble getting comments to work on the Fire. Is anyone else having this problem?
Lots of flowers going on in that first image - wow! LOVE the beige dress .. timeless elegance, and that bag - perfect! The flats look comfy too. Going to Paris in June and I'm already planning what to wear :)

Oh I love the dress by Agness B!!! That is exactly the style that I love, and I think it works for many body types. Especially mine, and if you have a little bit of a butt!
I do so love coming here to visit.
Have a great weekend, Elizabeth
Just found your blog, and I promise to visit often, Jude
The Celin trouser suit has something playful about it.
I've always adored florals - been wearing them before the introduction of the floral trend.
