Another French Pharmacie Find

These are the pills I'm taking. They're a very pretty baby pink. It makes me think that's strategic marketing, in other words no man in his right mind would consider popping one every morning for a month or more.
You may think I'm willing to try just about anything on my quest -- not for eternal youth,  no absolutely not -- but rather for an eternal "you certainly look good for your age, tell me your secret" appearance.

With two exceptions, you're probably correct. I'll test almost anything non-toxic. I am willing to try lots and lots of products, but not two major procedures. No facelifts or Botox for me thank you very much. However a neck lift and injectable hyaluronic acid are still on the negotiating table as opposed to the operating table -- for now.

Why do I bring up this subject you may be wondering. Let me tell you. I am now swallowing a shiny pink pill every morning with a large glass of water (followed immediately by my effervescent multi-vitamin tablet and a separate vitamin E capsule) as I was saying, that -- are you ready for this (?) is 150 mgs. of hyaluronic acid. Yes, instead of the classic in your face -- literally -- injections into deep crevices I thought it would be "fun" to see what happens by this route.

Actually I didn't even know the product existed until my friend and pharmacist Christine presented me with the box.  Our conversation:

Christine: Have I got something special for you!

Moi: I can barely still my beating heart.

C: I want you to do a cure with these pills I just bought for the pharmacy.

M: What? Now I'm some kind of lab experiment for you?

C: No, don't be silly. I know you love products and I thought of you when I ordered it.

M: Why did you think of me? Is it because you think I have wrinkles?

C: You're starting to annoy me.

M: Well, do you think I have serious wrinkles?

C: Here's the box, take the pills and report back.

M: Yes, but you're giving them to me because you really think I need them.

C: You don't need them. Just take them, OK?

M: OK, merci beaucoup.

The other -- traditional -- way to take hyaluronic acid.
In one month I am supposed to see a 27 percent improvement in hydration and elasticity. In three months the results should be staggering. My skin is normal and I don't really know what elasticity means. Maybe it has something to do with the time it takes for the crease on my cheek from my pillow to disappear? Skin springing back from where it was or where it should be is a difficult concept for me to process.

I took my sixth pill this morning so it's way too early to see results. I'm glad she gave them to me because they ring in at 40 Euros which is a lot to spend on something that even she isn't sure works.

I'm completely ignoring a recent article in Elle which said that "probably" the only way hyaluronic acid works is when it is delivered by a syringe, not by a glass of water. I'm focusing on the word "probably" because you just never know. N'est-ce pas?

You do know I'll report back from the field.

Ooh, I definitely want to know (although I can't imagine forking over the forty smackers). Be so very happy that you can't imagine what problems with elasticity could be:sigh. I am taking Forcapil for my hair and nails right now. Also just started and am praying it will help with the fine/breakage situation.

Sounds very interesting! You must report back to us! With my luck, we will probably not be able to get a hold of them here in North America but if they do work...now wouldn't that be the perfect reason to start planning a little trip to Paris!!

I am a sucker for your questing and testing and am happily using the eucerin cream you mentioned earlier. Sadly I Have not found Filorga in Norway, so if anyone can recommend a place to order it, I would be very grateful. If the pink pills work, I'll start a new search party for sure. Really enjoy your blog and reading about the products you use, as I most definetely need all the help I can get :-)

Thanks for being willing to experiment, Tish. Can't wait for the results to come in!

Looking forward to your "reporting back."

As one who wishes to age gracefully and naturally, the concept of hydrating and nutritionally supplementing in all possible ways sounds far better (to me) than botox, fillers, etc.

If men can have their little blue pill, why not a shiny pink one for the women?

At a time in life when "success" as we know it turns on so many things including what we, ourselves, use as the basis for self-esteem, I am looking forward to hearing what you discover... something perhaps that might help us feel refreshed and dewier, without chasing rainbows...

I use it as a serum on my face, but not sure if it does anything. I use different things, so not sure which is the "thing" that is keeping my skin looking pretty good.
Are you sure there aren't any side effects from the pills.

Why not try "Hydraplenish" sold on Amazon for less than $20.00 per month? I have been taking it for about two years & people think that I am ten years younger than what I am. I also take Biotin for my nails & hair.

Appreciate your throwing yourself on the altar of experimentation on our behalf and truly hope you get good results ... but how the heck does one measure 27% increase in hydration and elasticity? Just askin' ...

So does this mean Elle thinks that hyaluron cannot be absorbed through the skin from the Eucerin cream? I do love that cream, although I suppose the other ingredients could be helping as well.

Tish Jett said...

That's the problem. I have no idea how in the privacy of our own homes, without the assistance of scientists (no doubt paid by the laboratory) how in the world can we measure 27 percent improvement.

No, we MUST believe in our Eucerin cream. I have total confidence in it. Next Friday I have an appointment with my dermatologist. I'll ask her what she thinks about ingesting hyaluronic acid.

I'll let you know what she says.

Hi Tish - when you have your appointment next week could you please clarify whether Retinn A should go on first or last, or did I miss that post? Ciao Bella. S

Tish Jett said...

Yes, promise to ask her. I meant to write that post, but never got around to it.
