Every Saturday when I do my major market shopping, i.e. fruit, vegetables, cheese. . ., as opposed to super market shopping for household cleaning products, water, milk and so forth, I always buy flowers. I put them in a bucket of water and take them to the cave (the cellar) to keep them fresh and on Saturday I make my bouquets. Not being a remarkable homemaker, this exercise is a delight for me. It is the compensation for all the necessary chores one is obliged to do. I could, and sometimes do, spend hours making bouquets for the bedroom, the living room, the dining room, the library, my office.

This week I bought three bunches of white anemones. I love anemones. This is one of my -- extremely simple as you can see -- bouquets in a mercury glass vase.
A demain.

I love the look of white anemones. In the winter, I tend to have white orchids throughout the house, or white roses. my favorite summer pleasure is wake up early on Saturday, run to my garden and prepare my "bouquets" of fresh cut flowers.
Oh those are lovely, Tish. I have the same ritual on Saturday and have for *years*! (Even in California, Saturday was my Farmer's Market/flower run day.) There have been moments when I've had to mind my centimes, at which times I've been limited to just one flower...and I would agree: even one flower can be 'life-changing'!
I adore your Galle vase and the flowers are perfect, love white anemones! Simple yet luxurious!

You have inspired me...I love this! I plan to add this to my weekly shopping!
The anemones in the mercury vase are so lovely and serene. I love having fresh flowers within eyesight, but so rarely do at home as things tend to get knocked over, chez nous. When peonies come into season though, all reason goes out the window and there's no stopping me!
flowers are just so lovely to brighten the house...I had 2 gorgeous blue water bottles from my last stay in NYC that I took home with me and put flowers in - looks so darn cute!!
Your bouquet is gorgeous, in the mercury glass. And the heavy curtains behind, too.
Lovely! Your anemones are stunning, but I also love the simplicity of the single blossoms in cylindrical vases. I want to try that! Tricia
Love the anemones in the mercury glass. I adore mercury glass and have tons of mercury glass votives.
I want to look for a vase now. I do always have fresh flowers in our home, feels empty without them.
It is not only very French to buy flowers; it is, indeed, very European in general. They buy more flowers (in fact the Dutch do), more than any other place on earth! I grow a lot of mine, but still cannot resist a bunch at a Farmer's Market.
I agree with you. I always have fresh flowers in the house A favorite spot is on the bathroom vanity between my sink and hubby's. I like Asiatic lilies for the fragrance and the fact that they are so long lasting.
Your arrangement of flowers and the mercury glass look lovely together. Those three candle sticks add a nice balance and the drapes in that neutral shade come together to create such an elegant vignette.
I'd love to come for a visit!
Gorgeous photos, Tish. And I couldn't agree more that it's unnecessary to spend a fortune yet still benefit from the beauty and fragrance of flowers.
Yet one more way that the French lifestyle reminds us to savor?
I am a white flower girl myself but have somehow let slip the bedside vase. Thank you for the reminder Tish, I'm on it! Your flowers are so beautiful as to not seem real...
Isn't it wonderful how fresh flowers can renew your soul? The simplicity, the beauty and of course the aromas can make even the most common room memorable. I love buying masses of the same flower at the farmers market and placing single blossoms or large bouquets throughout the house. Tish, I love your Galle vase and the winter white flowers are just perfect.
I enjoy flowers, too, and have moved to more flowering plants (orchids, cyclamen, bromeliads etc.) when the local selection is reduced in winter. Cyclamen seem to me one of the great all-time bargains.
l so agree Tish. Your anemones look lovely in their simplicity.
l'm fortunate to have gardenias in bloom at the moment and always have a single bloom by my bed.
They are beautiful and what a lovely way to spend a morning!
The anemones are beautiful! I really can't choose my favorite flower; I love them all! Flowers brighten the mood and can really make any space more inviting. I think they're a necessity in life! I can't get enough, which is probably why flowers are my number one subject matter:)
Take care!

The tradition of changing the flowers in the house is very therapeutic and they always add a special touch to a room. I started such a tradition with my mother and continue it with mu daughter. Bon weekend
Your floral arrangement in the first photo is beautiful.
We tend to wait for garden flowers but will certainly be buying buckets of fresh flowers to arrange on the tables we're setting up in our front and back gardens and the tent in the driveway the day before our wedding.
