The Great Reveal. . .
After much urging and pressure -- particularly from my daughter -- here is a picture of me for our Faces Through The Ages series. Charlotte doesn't look particularly happy to be in the shot and Macha gave us a withering look and left the room.
Admittedly it's not a close-up, but until we solve the problems with my exceedingly unattractive eye allergies this will have to do. Have new meds so I have new hope. I'll ask my extremely annoying daughter to take a picture of me during the holidays when I shall, no matter what, be wearing eye makeup again.
Now I'm off to wrap and pack gifts to send to the States in the hope they will arrive in time.

Gorgeous, and adorably self-conscious. It's your own blog, so you're allowed to take liberties. ;o)

That's funny, I have an extremely annoying son AND daughter !! Aren't we lucky ?? :)
You look quite beautiful .. who cares about eye makeup .. I hope your allergies are cured soon, I know the discomfort well :(
besitos..
Well, you're beautiful!
And maybe you will enjoy having posted this, and it will become no big thing. That's how it is for our annoying children:), in this age of the digital image.
You look so intelligent, and elegant, even sideways. I look forward to some day getting to say hello in person.
But even had you been less physically attractive, I still would have liked your photo because I have come to like you so much.
MWAH! Looking forward to seeing that mug in person next year... ;-)
You look gorgeous.
Lovely- just as I have imagined. Thank you Tish.
You look lovely :-) The photo is just precious!
What is glamour? Why, I think it is you! What a beautiful candid photo.
my comment was eaten by blogger...
I think you look fabulous and hope that you won't be shy and will allow us to see your image more often!
I adore the photo!! It is so difficult to get family to cooperate with camera time!

Such a cute picture! But we do want MORE! i was headless for a long time and so self conscious...but my husband says a monster has been created! It has actually helped me a lot to put a head on top...Join us! You look beautiful!
Lively and interesting face you have...pleased to meet you!
Avril
I have noticed from your previous statements that you are perhaps sensitive to being photographed.
Don't waste your energy. You are beautiful!!
Hurray for you and a big hurray for your daughter. I thought it very strange that you were happy to put other women's faces up, but not your own. I enjoy reading about pretty clothes and expensive make-up and all that beauty stuff. However, I do think there is a down side when it makes us too self-conscious, too focused on how we look. Aside from a certain amount of grooming and such, each and every one of us has to deal with the hand that genetics has dealt us and get on with life. So far as I can tell, you were given a pretty good hand and you've played it well to boot. It would be lovely if you could just relax and not be afraid to show yourself to us. I'm sure we're a kindly lot, not that you need it. You look great.
You and le chien look wonderful! (And I love seeing real books behind you as well.)
Delighted with your reveal! And looking forward to those holiday pictures.
xoxo
Simply Beautiful!!!!
You are lovely! And the setting with your dog and all the books in the background--perfect! Thank you for sharing this slice of your life.
I love the vibrancy of this shot. And you look great! Lovely. I'm so glad your daughter nagged you sufficiently.
I knew you were a beauty and you are!
I've had annoying eye allergies the last weeks too, haven't been able to wear eye make up most days. Now that I'm used to wearing, it's weird seeing my face without it.
Tish! You are beautiful! Just as I always suspected. Thanks for being brave and posting.
Sometimes our annoying daughters bring out the best in us. She sure did!!!!!!!
Dear Tish,
Thank you for posting your picture today. As someone who is also reluctant to share photos of myself online, I understand what a struggle this was for you. You're
beautiful as I knew you would be and I love seeing you surrounded by some of your favorites, Charlotte and your library.
Bien fait!
Jeannie
The first time is the hardest! After that, it only gets easier - but you are beautiful...Simple, casual, elegant with the perfect accessory and what a library! We are always our own harshest critic; don't waste a moment longer not appreciating your beauty. Look forward to the holiday pictures.
Ciao.
CJ
Great picture!
Stunning.

Yay! You are absolutely gorgeous - the confluence of beauty AND brains. (What a fine book collection you have - Tom Wolfe and Cartier to boot!)
Go Tish!!!
My eyes have become so sensitive since I hit 50 that I almost never wear eye make up. Just make sure you wear red lipstick!
You look as charming and lovely as I thought you would Tish. Hope your allergies are better soon.
Sam
Hello Tish and pleased to meet you in person. I love your blog and you are a beautiful woman too. Brains, good looks, elegance, modesty, ladylike and kindness is a very attractive package.
I pray your allergies clear soon.

I hope you don't mind comments from a strange man, but you are a beautiful, elegant woman.
You are beautiful Madam!
So glad your daughter prevailed. I'm paying attention now: what are your favorite products again?
You are very pretty, just like I imagined you would be.
You're lovely. But didn't I see your picture on another blog a while back, taken in Paris?
This made my morning and to think that I almost missed it! You are as absolutely gorgeous as I knew that you would be. Actually, more so because of the combination of the intelligence in your eyes and shyness. I would tease you for hiding behind Charlotte (happy to see her as well!) but you already know that I do exactly the same thing!
Bravo for being brave.
Bisous,
Heather
Hooray for you, and your intrepid daughter! I find it fascinating how normal it is for us as humans to have a mental disconnect between what we perceive and how others perceive us. It can occur not only with what we see in mirrors and photos, but also with how we think our voices sound, how we think we move, and more. And overwhelmingly, others are kinder to us than we are in judging ourselves. However, those outside voices are also less biased than we are ourselves, so when you read all those comments about how lovely you are, I hope you'll take a moment to see what we're seeing--that you have wonderful bone structure, lovely skin, and an intelligence and soul that radiate through to make you more than simply pretty. As the French say, Voila. :-)
Ah, to have a glimpse of you. So pretty.
I'm sure the flowers are jealous of you.
You look good horizontal - but I'm sure you've been told that before!
If you were here, with me now, you would see me blushing. It's incredible, still at my age I blush. I always hoped I would outgrow it, but never have.
You are all so lovely. Thank you, thank you.
You make me so happy -- every day.
So beautiful!
And you took a page from my book.... pictures always go better with your dog!
Bravo!
Having seen you a short time ago, you look lovely here but even lovelier in person.
Welll, if you look this good without eye makeup you might just as well throw it all out!
So it is allergy hell in France too? We've got them bad here in the states..what's going out...Allergy Warfare or something?
Thank you so much for showing us YOUR face ---- you are a natural beauty......x
A natural photo of a glamerous (yes glamerous) woman.......which is not making me feel very good about myself! Hope the presents were wrapped and sent.
Bisous
Tish, you're as beautiful and vibrant as you say we are. Own it girl!
Yay, we get to see your gorgeous face at last !
Ten points to your adorable daughter for insisting on the shot.
Hope the new meds work for your poor eyes.
