Your Faces Through the Ages

Ah, the 40s -- mostly wild and wonderful. Mostly.

The 30s were the set up, the 40s are full-throttle. Careers are peaking, families are growing (and often children are arriving at, hmmm shall we say "challenging ages"), or perhaps unemployment has become part of the picture -- totally unexpected, putting a strain and a spin on life that adds even more pressure, doubts and maybe fear. If things are going well it's one of the best decades for a woman. You're feeling healthy, determined, full of energy -- when you get enough sleep -- and you are relatively certain you have found your place, your calling.

Some of you are traveling, searching, celebrating freedom and adventure. Others are back to school or back to work after raising children, changing direction, with enthusiasm and hope. Single or in a relationship, you are probably mostly content with your life moving forward, and if not, you plan to make whatever adjustments it will take to put yourself back on course.

You've also decided, I hope, if you haven't been taking the best care of yourself health and beauty-wise up to this point because, well, you didn't really need to, now is the time to take a time out. You deserve the pampering and the time it takes to look beautiful and as you can see from the women in the earlier posts, you're worth it. You'll be glad you did.

It does look as if all the women pictured here are on message however.

A demain and please keep your photos coming to You are fascinating, absolutely fascinating.

Off to Paris. It's raining, but if the sun comes out I'll take some pictures for you.

I had on the panic attack on my thirtieth birthday, had a fit when my family and friends gave me a surprise party on my fourtieth and locked myself in the bathroom... then I stayed 39 (to this days my kids are confused about my age...) until 50 hit! At this point, i finally reached acceptance, maturity, never been so stressed in my life between kids and business on the verge... but am doing things i would never have dare to do before, climbing kilimanjaro was just the beginning of the next phase of my life. I am giving my fifties a run for its money!!

Tish, what a great series. Lately I've not been able to visit my friends as much as I like and I missed that you were featuring your readers. What a lovely idea. It's fun to see the different ages. Everyone looks so elegant.

I'm over 65 but I try not to let it bother me. I think it is all about attitude and how you handle it that counts.

I have recently turned 50 and am not coping with ageing at all (be it 48, 49, 50 whatever). I see the women on these pages as absolutely beautiful and elegant but not so for myself. As Sam says, it is all about attitude and how you handle it... and unfortunately I am not handling it at all well. I should be thankful for so much in my life but instead I only see my failures and lack of accomplishments. I want to be like the other wonderful positive women who contribute to this site.

The vitality that radiates from these women is like a shot of espresso. And your narrative Tish... spot on.
