You've seen her many times in this space, but I don't believe I have formally introduced you to her.
Please meet the beautiful, talented, charming Babette. She has exquisite taste. She owns two boutiques in the town near us where I take my pictures -- one clothing, Coté Rue, the other shoes and bags. When a shop is a mere 45 minutes from the center of Paris, you have to have an eye, or, as we liked to say in the biz "a point of view" when buying for sophisticated customers.
With few exceptions, her merchandise is more than appropriate and "tweakable" for teens to
les femmes comfortably ensconced in a certain age. She's that clever. Passing time in her boutique has proven to me time and time again, it's almost always the "how" something is worn, as opposed to "no, I could never wear
that." (We'll be back to that subject at a later date.)
Her price points are moderate -- as in not designer, but definitely not Monoprix. Her style is spot on. She has a large, loyal following with
moi meme among them, particularly when shopping for my daughter. I have bought so many great items for Andrea
chez Babette that Drea has had friends who ask me to shop for them. The mission: "Buy anything you like, my size is_________. I trust you."
Apart from her fresh beauty, Babette is not, you will notice, an
haricot vert (a green string bean) and she is soooo comfortable in her skin. I think one can learn a great deal observing her style.

Lucky you to have such a wonderful shop nearby with the fabulous Babette to help you look and feel your best. I am envious.
She's charming.
Easy to tell from her smile.
J'adore her casual chic style, and yes, some of your pictures of her have inspired me to try some looks. (Psst...I'd love to visit her shop...) ;-)
Very beautiful. Also, I'd say, almost Californian in style. Just that little bit more sophisticated, but kind of like the most elegant women in Marin County, if you are familiar with the area at all.
she is so beautiful and like lisa above, i think she has a very california vibe to her. i know lots of ladies here that dress like her. quite lovely.
Lovely styles - and such a wonderful example of bien dans sa peau.
She looks beautiful, chic, and as you say, completely comfortable in her skin. Does she have an online store?
I spotted some Bensimon items in the top picture. I LOVE Bensimon!
Californian is what came to mind to me too, very natural and slightly boho.
I love her style, she looks chic but relaxed.
How good to be "formally" introduced! She appears very down-to-earth while at the same time most savvy in her style and selections.
I love her relaxed ageless style .. she looks great xx
Babette looks like she has fun dressing and obviously knows and trusts her fashion sense.
Lucky you to be able to shop in her store!
Natural beauty, would be very happy to have her help me with ideas while browsing her shop.
Want, want the grey dress 5th photo down divine. Ida
Tish hope you don't mind me leaving a small post!
On your w/e post some of your bloggers' asked about Catherine DOC pushing a trolley??
Have left a reply on that post.Ida
Glad to finally "meet" Babette! I so love all the pictures of her and her quirky style. I agree that being comfortable in your skin is key to pulling off any look. I am not a string bean either (today feel more like an eggplant), but know that if I feel good in my outfit, I look good in my outfit. Thanks for the inspiration.
Absolutely fetching!
I think you should profile other women you've spoken so much about. I'd love to know more about Edith, for example ....
xoxo!
You are so lucky to have such a nice shop nearby!
Have always loved your photographs of Babette and her boutique. She has a unique style and looks great - I could do some serious damage $$$ wise there I am certain. X
As LB wrote above, what happened to Edith and her fabulous artwork? Maybe my erratic reading of your Blog, dear Tish, has resulted in missing a post about her. If she consents, it would be nice to catch up on what's new in her life too. Tell her we miss her.
Now Babette continues to be my favorite. I only take issue with the gray pants with "suspenders/braces" - not her best casual look. I would spend almost all of my clothing allowance in her store - love what she buys! xoxoxo, Carole
Adress please?
Yes please the address! Will be traveling soon and would love to stop by.
I agree. You are lucky to have a reliable store you can, well, rely on. I like the fact she isn't too skinny. At some point, we just have to accept more curves although few magazines will agree.
I like that greyish-blue two-piece number (#2)- off-shoulder top with matching long pants. I agree that the pants with suspender straps are past my prime looks at present.
(a look my daughter loved in fifth grade).
Yes, please give us the name and address of Babette's shop. I, too, would search it out since I have friends near Fontainbleau that I will be visiting on my next trip and I don't think Vesailles is that far.
Love Babette's clothes and personal style. Would love the address of her boutique when next I am in the area visiting family and friends.
Hope you don't mind sharing.
Dear A Femme:
I am a humble reader of your blog but have never posted before. I'll be traveling to Paris two weeks from today and would love to visit Babette's lovely boutique. Would it be possible for you to post the name of the town in which Cote Rue is located? I can understand if that is not something you feel comfortable doing, however.
In case you'd rather share privately my email address is: larzdave1988@sbcglobal.net
Thank you so much:
Laurie Robinson
Merced, California
Please post the name and address of Babette's shop.
Or if you would rather send it to my e-mail address: erusweb@hotmail.com
Thanks.
