Fin d'Année Fashion Fantasies

Carolina Herrera (The Winner, and yes, I would/could wear it, even with the frou-frou bolero-thingie)

Carolina Herrera (The Runner-Up)

Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti (Falling back into character a bit here.)

Max Mara (Falling completely back into character. I would not wear boots and add some spectacular earrings, but I doubt this would stop traffic.)

Alberta Ferreti

Alberta Ferreti

Alberta Ferreti

This is it, it's over. (I'll spare you the cliches, but it seems to me as if 2010 passed with undue speed.)

On this last day then, I thought I would slip over into fantasy land and show you what I would wear tonight if all the stars were aligned in my favor, which is to say, IF:

1.) The invitation was not lost in the mail.

2.) I had the wherewithal to indulge in any of these red-carpet worthy numbers.

3.) I had the perfect alignment of figure requirements (alongside the stars). . .

Suffice it to say, I am taking you into dreamland where all is right with the world in all ways. Clearly I'm making an absurd number of assumptions, but I do not have to get real until January 2nd, 2011.

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta

Elie Saab

Louis Vuitton

For whatever reasons I don't feel the need to qualify at this moment and ruin my fin d'année, many of these frothy, frivolous fripperies would never work on me. But a girl can dream -- and imagine walking into a vast chateau, coupe in hand, to welcome in the new year. Let me add, I trust the impact of my "virtual" get-up would result in stunned, appreciative silence followed by murmurs of wonder, awe and -- dare I say (?), oh, why not! -- cameras flashing, audience (I mean other guests) ooohing and ahhhing, audibly.

Until tomorrow, when I shall wish you an official Happy New Year, Bonne Fin d'Année

(Ed. Note: No, I didn't send out any dreadful e-mails pushing low-cost drugs. I was hacked. I am sorry, and hope no one thought I would do such a thing.)

Bonne Fin d'Annee Letitia, and I chose the last one, the Louis Vuitton( since we are in "le grand delire" mode...)p.s.: I understand the truck ad email now. Damn hackers! Excuse my... English.

Oh mais oui! That is some grand fantasy dressing. I love the austere Alberta Ferretti, though, given my over-indulgences during the hols, I think that the Vuitton would be a better camouflage for all of that cream, and wine, and chocolat that has settled where Rubens would have settled it. Bonne Annee!

To imagine is so delicious -- I loved every gown. Yes, the Carolina Herrera's are clear winners, if I had to vote. xo, C.

Thanks for the fantasies! We'll be hiking up an iced-up mud road to a neighbour's house -- most of our islander guests will be wearing jeans and Healy-Hanson boots, not kidding! -- but your post might be the push I need to go through with my plan to dress up anyway, although perhaps not in a fabulous full-length gown!
The spam with your e-mail address was recognized immediately for what it was and deleted -- my sympathies for the hassle.

Happy 2011 -- may it fulfill a fantasy or two, and perhaps we'll even have a chance to drink another glass of wine together. Bonne Fin d'Année

I'll be in one standing by the piano in the black Elie Saab! Could you pick me up another glass of pink champagne on your way over?

Happiest of New Years to You!!

yes, the fall back is my idea of dressed up-though I would not hesitate on the bolero thingy either. the froth of the last LV is the fantasy and worth going off course for-a raising of the glass to the ladies who still love their sans sleeves arms-and to everyone else I am right there with you-cheers & a shot. have enjoyed aquainting myself with an obvious kindred spirit this year. pgt

Bonne Fin d'Année, Tish!

Though I dream of someday attending the type of soirée for which such a gown would be appropriate (and I second your CH picks, just fabulous!), we're staying home and have invited a few family and friends to drop over for a glass of bubbly. So my party getup will probably consist of my slim black ankle pants, ballet flats and a sweater, maybe some pearls. Ah, the glamour!

These dresses make me feel shoddy about even considering wearing jeans to the restaurant tonight. Thank you for the nudge, Tish!

And happy new year.

In my fantasy I'd be in the first Oscar de la Renta - just a little shimmery skirt and blouse number with a slim belt.

Gorgeous Dresses. It would be nice to go to places where I could wear one! Happy New Year.
