A Slice of Life

While I'm writing today's promised post on "What was your best gift ever? I thought I'd give you a quick explanation about why I'm running so late.

I'd like to tell you it's because we were doing festive holiday shopping in the big city. The only part of the previous sentence that's true is the fact we were in Paris today, but because the biggest truck I have ever seen in my entire life, hit the front fender of my car after running a red light we didn't have time for anything one might call amusing.

We were mostly sitting in the middle of screaming, honking drivers back from their fun sorties  and definitely not in the spirit of the season.

All is well except for my fender which now scrapes the tire. The driver jumped out of his semi and started screaming at me: ça va pas la tete!! ça va pas la tete!! (are you crazy, are you crazy!?)  For more than an hour he refused to back up his truck so I could disengage without ripping off the entire front of my car.

There, now you know everything. Now I'm off to work.

How terrible for you! It's never the right time for such things to happen, but especially at this time of year. And the NERVE of that driver - after HE was the one at fault! He was probably in shock, thinking he'd totalled your car. Take all the time you need to get over the shock... you know we'll all be waiting.
Lovely blog, by the way - it's become a must-read for me.

Bonjour Tish! Sorry to hear about your troubles - what we we just talking about, life has a way of throwing things at us at the most inconvenient times. Most importantly, you are okay, except for having to deal with the crazy driver. Take care!

Oh how awful! It sounds as though nobody was hurt? Glad you're doing OK. Hope you're able to get it fixed.

How dreadful! I am sorry that the damage seems to have included not only your fender, but also your psyche - no thanks to that nasty driver.

So delighted to have found your blog through Big Little Wolf.

All best wishes for a speedy (although not so speedy so as to avoid stopping for red lights, like that trucker) return to normalcy.

So sorry! That will put a damper in the Christmas spirit. But I see that you're already getting a great story out of this. When we have our glass of wine together next year, I'll have to get you to do an impression of that driver;-)

OH, non! What a terrible thing to happen at this time..wait, at ANY time in fact! "ca va pas la tete?" TY.PI.CAL! so French...$%%^&$E@!! they make me so mad; never wrong, of course.. offense is the best defence and all of that stupid atitude. At least you are allright. A fender is not too bad, but so annoying and time consuming. But, nous, your fideles lecteurs et lectrices will happily wait for your post. promis. courage.

Oh no Tish, there's nothing worse. At least you were O.K.
Go and have a nice glass of vin rouge and something nice to eat. That will make you feel better. XXXX

Wow, what a jerk. I'm sorry to hear about your car's injuries, but am very glad that you're reporting none of your own. That's most important!

As if you don't have enough stuff to manage during the holidays ....

Oh Tish how awful - presume you were not hurt in the accident but I am sure it must have given you a big 'shake up' mentally - I hate confrontations too with people shouting....many sympathies..

You are all so adorable. I am perfectly fine, though annoyed.

Jackie, the wine helped a lot. (Good thing I didn't have it prior to the encounter with the truck and the charming driver. . .)

Merci, merci.
