In this life it is sooo important to be in the moment, in the spirit of the season, to drink spirits color-coordinated to the holidays, which at the same time offer a little buzz that makes you think you're hearing festive jingling bells even though they're only in your head.

Anyone can drink something red, any time of the year -- lots of people do it everyday -- but I ask you, when was the last time you drank something green? I thought so.
That is precisely what Edith and I did last weekend as we pulled our Christmas party clothes out of our closets, metaphorically speaking. She sketched, I explained and we both drank Chartreuse. For those of you unfamiliar with the taste, the minute you get past the first sensation when you believe you're sipping something vaguely medicinal, you immediately start to like it. Shortly thereafter you realize it does have a strange, but not at all unpleasant medicinal effect.
The Chartreuse also explains why my new plastron, i.e. bib necklace looks, hmm, a little "muddy." But who cares, right(!?)

As I was saying, off we went to our armoires and this is what we found to wear to all those parties to which the invitations have apparently been lost by the poste.
Edith dug in and found "a Kenzo skirt I forgot I owned," which she coordinated with a stretchy black velvety, square-neck top from Zara and of course she added those boots of hers again. She bought masses of red "pearls" at Monoprix and hung a family heirloom locket from one of the strands.

Her long black silk crepe skirt is of unknown origins while the red silk shell she had made in India. Contrary to appearances, she is not wearing red boots, but rather her new red satin shoes with red opaque tights (also new). She's wearing the same braided leather belt with both outfits. "I've had it forever and don't ask me where I got it." (See how people get when they drink green alcohol?)
I'm wearing what is definitely one of my top ten favorite possessions, my Yves Saint Laurent tuxedo. I wear it a million different ways, separate or as a suit. Here I paired it with a ruffled halter blouse with a wing collar and my usual Monsoon cummerbund and amethyst chandelier earrings. (If I knew where the blouse was I would tell you who designed it, but I've been looking all morning and it's no place to be found. I guess it isn't the end of the world since, as I mentioned, those invitations are not pouring in. Maybe I'll wear le smoking chez moi on Christmas Eve -- under my apron.) Edith gave me the prune satin envelope evening clutch.
The second ensemble includes my usual red satin trousers with a black silk bustier and another of my favorite jackets, a wool crepe redingote with velvet buttons and trimmed in black velvet at the lapels and wrists. Please note the plastron which I wish to buy and intend to buy. And aren't my new black grosgrain bows on my old red grosgrain shoes too, too chic for words?

As usual, love, love, love the clothes sketches and descriptions. But what really caught my eye was your accompanying beverage. Oh, how I love the color chartreuse. Yes, I am one of those who can actually wear the color. But I didn't know about the liquor. Straight to Google I went and learned that it has been around since the early 1600s. So - I'll be on the hunt for my own bottle!
You girls are going to be so elegant and all that out of your own "fashion lines". Messieurs et Mesdames les createurs, plus besoin de vous...The sketches are so much fun; I must have drawn a million in my time; My daughters have framed a few in $2 clear plastic shadow boxes. The looks are really "now" not surprisingly - les vagues de la mode- ebbing(?) back and forth. Great post! How BIG are your closets?
I am wildly in love with your illustration series. I wonder how it is that I had not found you until now. Sheer pig-headedness probably...
All of those ensembles look fabulous! Yes, I love the black grosgrain bows...are those a real embellishment you've added? So clever!
May I echo the admiration of your other commenters? I love these sketches -- and I hope the party-givers come to their senses and you are deluged with invitations so the outfits can "get their Christmas on!"
Not enough parties here, either, but your post has inspired me to do a bit more dressing up next week and go out with my husband, even if just for a drink or two at the nearest fancy hotel lounge. In the spirit of the season, as you say. Maybe we'll even order Chartreuse. . .
Great outfits! Maybe you'll have to throw your own fête since the opportunities to wear these glamourous outfits are not forthcoming.

Love green for this season- emerald green especially! It's so much less obvious than red :)
Just to show you what little class I possess I do remember the last time I drank something green! St Patrick's Day , green beer. Thank the good Lord there are people like you to maintain a higher level than that!
Like everyone else here I too love your these fashion sketches. The outfits you've pulled together as fabulous. Lorrie has the right idea - you two should throw your own fête, and show everyone how its done!
Enjoy rummaging through those armoires!
Darling Tish,
Les Deux Copines will look marvelous in their festive wear. I need you here in Carmel for a major holiday make-over.
Cheers and love,
Marjorie
Lovely, lovely, lovely, but OMG Chartreuse - I tried some on the recommendation of a friend. Green indeed, and potent! (Pas parmi les alcools que j'aime, et pourtant ce n'est pas la fée verte.)
J'adore all these drawings. They make me want to don any holiday attire I might find in my closet, but hélas the invites also seem to be lost in the poste.
Love your clothing sketches. I'm in big trouble! I have nothing to wear for the holidays.
Chartreuse is not my favorite french liquer.
How fun. I would love to have your closet.
Green Chartreuse is fabulous, but always be sure to get the green one. The yellow one is less potent and not nearly as high a quality. But don't drink too much Chartreuse, or you might not remember what happened that night. Just take my word for it.

Uh Oh, if your Chartreuse picture is muddy I have to go to photography class!!!!!!!!!Those renderings are so much fun. Holiday champagne at the shop is taking it's tolllllllllllll....HA!
So elegant and so festive too - well the green of the chartreuse adds to this too of course! Love the outfits you both 'created' - yes, your little bows are just darling, Tish and look forward to seeing the 'plastron' (mmmm - like that word plastron) when you purchase! (Note, not IF)
Green Chartreuse is my favourite liqueur, Tish. Yellow Chartreuse is for wimps !!!! It has to be the green. Pretty strong, if you haven't tried it before but, as you say, you really start to get into it, especially after the 5th one !! It was my dear old Dad who introduced my sister and I to it.
Back to our closets. Brilliant fashion. I really love the long black skirt with the wide belt. Sorry....the fashion has faded into the background 'cos all I can think of is GREEN CHARTREUSE !!!!
Love your YSL jacket! So chic!
I didn't know about the liquor. Straight to Google I went and learned that it has been around since the early 1600s.

Great outfits. How can anyone forget they own a skirt by Kenzo? Been at the green stuff before?
Fashions were wonderful, my fave is the bows on the shoes.
Have to agree with James -- green beer on St. Pat's Day, but then there was green Kool-Ade with my granddaughter too. Chartreuse sounds interesting. Wonder why it intrigued so many of us.
The sketches are so much fun; I must have drawn a million in my time.
