A Change of Plans (But Still on Message, Sort Of...)

One of these days we can have a contest to see who among us, including moi meme, hates these posts beginning with explanations of why the following will not be what was previously promised instead of getting to the point. (Feel free to cast your vote.)

Normally (now there's an interesting word) Saturdays are devoted to decoration, which obviously was the plan for aujourd'hui

Today's post was to be with my great copine Jean Rafferty,  former City Editor of (the late and deeply regretted) "Metropolitan Home"  and also writes for "Town & Country," "Art & Auction" and "Veranda" magazines. She was my first American friend in Paris and my witness at THE wedding to My-Reason-For-Living-In-France.

I know you are as disappointed as I am, however I'm hoping (a handy word indeed) she will be with us soon. I can assure you, anything Jean has to say is worth the wait.

So, what we're (the editorial "we") doing here is flipping the days. Today I'll tell you what is coming up next week which is what you have come to expect on Sundays. See?

Alrighty, then. . .

That boule de Noël is absolutely gorgeous! And we will definitely not mind a little switching of days. Looking forward to demain and the beautiful décor!

(Que Paris (et environs) me manque à Noël - plus de simplicité qu'ici, et une élégance qui reconnaît que trop - c'est trop !)

I'm taking that Paul Smith Christmas ornament as a sign that today is the day I must, must, must decorate the tree that's been standing bare in my living room for the last three days.

Changing up the posts is good for us; it adds a soupçon of unexpectedness that keeps us on our toes.

That boule de Noel is exquisite.

At least you can go with the flow. Not everyone can. C'est la vie.

I am always surprised in a good way when I read your blog. You are so `alive´! I, myself, am a one with my feet firmly on the ground. In my family the tradition is to decorate the Christmas tree on the Xmas Eve, and the gifts ( only a few ) are set under the tree and opened on the Eve too. I like to keep everything as simple as possible. We have a tradition to visit the horses on that eve too at midnight, and read a book about Mary and Joseph there. Apples and carrots are given to the horses. It has become a nice tradition in our family. Calming and simple.
